Blue Like Jazz

August 31, 2010 Leave a comment

You know, I really love donald millar. Which baffles me to the nines, seeing as I absolutely despise organised religion. But the man doesn’t half know how to make you believe in the light in human beings. I also believe that everyone should read Blue Like Jazz by him. Fucking fantastic book, even though it IS a little god heavy.

Lost In Time

I gotta tell you, this song is epic! I know that the lyrics don’t seem much written down, but the delivery with the rest of the song is just amazing. Listen if you can!

“I’ll stop the day
You’ll rise again
Don’t count the news man to signal the end
‘Cos you can trust your farthest friends across the world

We’ll take the car
You’re in the room but your head’s in the stars
You can run, but you can’t hide who you are

He couldn’t stay
Thanksgiving’s gone
His growing children continue his song
He was young
Did nothing wrong

I tried to say I miss you tonight
And they claim you’ve already died
But the truth is that we’re lost in time
We’re lost in time
We’re lost in time
We’re losing time

These haunted dreams are brushed aside
We’ll meet again
Another life

I tried to say I miss you tonight
And they claim you’ve already died
But the truth is that we’re lost in time
We’re lost in time
We’re lost in time
We’re losing time

The Ghost Inside…

August 2, 2010 Leave a comment

Wow, 2 posts in 2 days! I’m such an erratic blogger :s but I really have to get this out, even though most people will know about it anyways. The new Broken Bells album is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! How it took me this long to get it is beyond me, but deary me it’s brilliant!!
For those of you who don’t know, Broken Bells is the latest project from Danger Mouse (the creative genius behind Gnarls Barkley), and vocalist James Mercer (The Shins). Their latest album, self-titled and released earlier this year is just purely amazing. Words cannot describe the feeling I’m getting off this album right now. It’s basically a prolonged belly-woosh. To use the technical term…
Anyway, enough jibberjabber fools, go get it from iTunes or something. The best less-than-a-tenner you’ll ever spend 🙂

Hello Internet!!
How are you all doing? Today is a good day – I finally perfected my summer playlist!! And 3 months into my summer holidays, it’s about time. I have to say, the last week has been quite influential on my life, considering I spent it with my grandparents for the most of it. And Bex, too. It’s nice at my grandparents place – the whole town seems to have a summer vibe and damn good karma 🙂
Anyway; playlist of my summer –

1. Tegan & Sara – You Went Away

2. Florence and the Machine & Dizzee Rascal – You’ve Got The Dirty Love

3. Stellastarr* – Damn This Foolish Heart

4. Alexisonfire – The Northern

5. The Gaslight Anthem – The Diamond Street Church Choir

6. Bishop Allen – Click Click Click Click

7. The Ataris – In This Diary

8. Frank Turner – Try This At Home

9. Eliza Doolittle – Pack Up

10. Bruce Springsteen – Thunder Road

12. Broken Bells – The Ghost Inside

13. The Rocket Summer – High Life Scenery

14. Professor Green – Just Be Good To Green

15. The Temper Trap – Fader

16. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers – American Girl

18. Jimmy Eat World – If You Don’t, Don’t

19. Kate Voegele – Only Fooling Myself

So there it is: my summer playlist 🙂 to me, the perfect mix of old, new, popular and underground. If you read this, then I hope that you like it. If you don’t, then you’re missing out ha ha.
